A message from the mind of Amber Conrad, SideQuest CEO
Well, aren’t we fancy? Gala at the Four Seasons, taking over a whole bar for a couple nights in downtown Austin, hobnobbing with local heroes; it’s enough to make a girl lift her pinky while sipping Mountain Dew.
Y’all, as we celebrate our 6th year of gaming community togetherness, I am inviting each and every one of you to our festivities. The entire reason for our existence is to connect you with the wonderful world of giving back. Each dollar you donate goes straight to charities directly linked to our hearts, like those that help kiddos bored in hospitals and soldiers bored on the front lines. Your generosity replaces their boredom with the fun we all get from gaming, and shines a little light of hope where folks could really use one. With your help, SideQuest is proud to support Central Texas Make-a-Wish, Child’s Play, Operation Supply Drop, AbleGamers, and other great organizations.
And let’s not forget: we’re building a community here! Each year, during the weekend of RTX Austin, we work to connect you, the perfect little molecular being reading this post, to other like-minded yet wonderfully diverse molecular beings. We want you to find a friend at our safe and inclusive community events. We want you to know that you belong. We want you to come away from your weekend with an inside joke or two, some online contacts and maybe some sweet merch.
If you are interested in taking a more active role in the our SideQuest community, I invite you to apply to join the Spectres, our corps of fearless (but friendly) volunteer staff. This not only allows you to go to our events for the low, low price of free, but you’ll get licensed bragging rights to tell your friends that you’re With The Band. We will have more information on these positions soon, so keep checking back here to know when we’ll be accepting applications.
If you definitely want to be a part of SideQuest Community Weekend but are on the fence about volunteering, go ahead buy a ticket anyway. If you are chosen to be a Spectre, we will give you a lovely refund.
But don’t wait too long. Last year, our tickets sold out in four days. That’s 96 hours, people. We’re trying to include more people by upgrading to a bigger venue for the Charity Gala, but we could still sell out this year too. We’d hate for you to miss out on all the fun. Won’t you join us?
I can’t wait to see all your pretty faces in July. Thank you for being fantastic.
