The Charity Gala (Thursday, July 6th) and the Pinballz Arcade Farewell Hangout (Monday, July 10th) are both all-ages events.
The Buffalo Billiards events, which include the SideQuest Barlympics (Saturday, July 8th) and the SideQuest Lounge (Sunday, July 9th), are both 18 and up (21 and up to drink).

Mostly, no. A separate SideQuest badge is required for the Charity Gala, Barlympics, SideQuest Lounge, and Pinballz Farewell Hangout (tickets still available here).

The only SideQuest-related event that will be accessible with an RTX badge is the RTX Wrap-Up Party at Buffalo Billiards on Sunday, July 9th starting at 8 PM. The SideQuest Lounge, which will be in the upstairs area of Buffalo Billiards that same evening, will only be accessible with a SideQuest badge.

All badges must be picked up by the attendee himself/herself with a ticket (digital or paper) and valid photo ID.

We sure are! From 5 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, July 6th, we’ll have an early registration and badge pickup table at the Four Seasons Hotel Austin (98 San Jacinto Blvd, Austin, TX 78701), where the SideQuest Charity Gala will be held later that very evening.

Be prepared to show your ticket (digital or paper, either is fine), as well as a valid photo ID to prove who you are. From the main lobby, look for signs pointing you in the right direction to find us, or ask the friendly Four Seasons staff at the front desk. We’ll share more information on exactly where we’ll be once we set up, so keep an eye on our Twitter/Instagram/Facebook!

Charity Gala FAQs

The Four Seasons will cater the Charity Gala with appetizers and small bites. By no means should attendees expect a full meal at the event. We recommend maybe having a light meal before the Charity Gala, or be prepared to go out later on in the evening to squash those hunger pangs.

Duh. In fact, there will be several bars open for attendees to purchase alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. You must be 21 and up to purchase and consume alcohol, no exceptions.

The Four Seasons will be prepared to accept cash and credit/debit card at all bar locations.

You heard right! We rarely have a good excuse to get all fancy at community events, so attendees are encouraged to dress up a bit for this fun evening. Dress code will not be strictly enforced, meaning we won’t turn away badge holders for wearing more casual clothing, but keep in mind that the vast majority of folks in attendance will be dressed quite a bit nicer than your standard convention wear.

Think cocktail-party attire. Gentlemen, that could be interpreted to mean a smart buttoned-down shirt, nice slacks, and dress shoes. Dark jeans would also be considered acceptable, but nothing too flashy, and we would avoid anything with lots of rips or tears. Coat and tie optional, but we won’t stop you from going the extra mile. Ladies, you can’t go wrong with a tasteful cocktail dress, but feel free to go with something less gender-conforming if that’s your style. For visual reference, check out photos from last year’s gala.

And if you need a bit more information on what cocktail attire means, check out this handy article from Lifehacker.

Sorry, but per venue rules, only attendees 21 and up can purchase and consume alcohol.

Similar to years past, this year’s charity auction will be a “silent auction.” All auction items will be displayed on tables at the start of the evening, with a bid sheet in front of each item. During the bidding period (8PM to 11 PM), bidders writes down their bid on the sheet corresponding to the item they’re hoping to win (minimum bid increments enforced).

At the end of the bidding period, SideQuest Spectres (our army of volunteers) will record the winners’ names and bid amounts and collect all items for checkout and pick-up (please do NOT pick up the items, even if you’re the winner). Winners will then proceed to a checkout station to pay for and claim their treasures.

Buffalo Billiards (Barlympics & SideQuest Lounge) FAQs

No. Due to the oppressive Texas heat and humidity we expect to see on the evening of the Barlympics event and weather-related safety concerns, we will not be holding a scavenger hunt this year. Instead, your SideQuest Barlympics Host will be asking trivia questions at Buffalo Billiards throughout the evening for points.

Sorry, but per venue rules, only attendees 21 and up can purchase and consume alcohol.

Pinballz Hangout FAQs

The Pinballz event is open to anyone who has any level of SideQuest badge or ticket, so a separate ticket is not necessary.
