Hi there. It sure has been a while, hasn’t it? I’ll bet some of you were even wondering if we were really still a thing. We know we’ve left you in the dark for quite a while now, and that’s totally on us. Sorry.
But we do have good news to share! The big, annual SideQuest events you’ve come to know and love are coming back in 2017. We’re now calling it SideQuest Community Weekend, but don’t let the name change worry you. A lot of the features of our signature events remain the same. To walk you through all things new and not-so-new, here are some potentially insightful, conveniently staged questions:
What’s with the name change to SideQuest Community Weekend?
The SideQuest team sees 2017 as an opportunity to begin expanding our reach beyond the RTX SideQuest events on which we have built our reputation. In addition to renaming our event weekend, we’re also changing our name from RT SideQuest to simply SideQuest. However, we haven’t forgotten where our roots are. At our core, we still are and always will be proud members of the Rooster Teeth community. Looking back on what we’ve been able to accomplish since our founding in 2011, bringing people together and raising tens of thousands of dollars for children’s charities, we know we can make an even bigger difference in the world. We hope you’ll join us on our enduring quest.
Will SideQuest Community Weekend still coincide with RTX?
Yes, SQCW 2017 will be held on the same weekend as RTX (July 7-9). Actually, SQCW begins just before RTX, with the Charity Gala (our famous charity auction and cocktail party) on Thursday, July 6th.
What events art part of SideQuest Community Weekend 2017?
(Thursday, July 6) SideQuest Charity Gala (formerly known as the RTX SideQuest Charity Auction and Cocktail Party…just rolls right off the tongue, doesn’t it?): This is the same silent-auction, fancy-pants shindig we’ve held in years past, but with one plot twist: a new venue! We’ve seen such a great turnout for this event that we have outgrown the capacity of the Radisson in downtown Austin. While the Radisson has served as a fantastic event venue in the past, we simply need a larger space to accommodate our vision for the Charity Gala. This year’s event will be held at the Four Seasons (98 San Jacinto Blvd.), just down the street from the Radisson, meaning it’s still a short walk from the Austin Convention Center and other downtown hotels. Reconnect with friends, make new ones, and bid on an amazing slate of items to benefit children’s charities!
(Saturday, July 8) SideQuest Barlympics: Not much changing with this event. We’ll still be on the upstairs level of Buffalo Billiards, our party headquarters on Austin’s famous Sixth Street. Compete against your fellow community members in a veritable slew of different games for the coveted SideQuest Cup. NOTE: This event is only for guests 18 and up. Sorry, we don’t make the rules, but we do have to follow them!
(Sunday, July 9) SideQuest RTX Wrap-Up Party and VIP Lounge: No changes here either. Just like last year, SideQuest has reserved ALL of Buffalo Billiards (top and bottom levels) for one last night of fun. Finish off your RTX weekend by hanging out with your fellow con-goers and keeping the good times rolling. NOTE: The downstairs section of this event is free and open to ALL RTX badge holders 21 and up. Upstairs access to the VIP Lounge is only available to SQCW badge and ticket holders, 18 and up.
(Monday, July 10) Due to increased venue costs, SideQuest will unfortunately not be holding a Farewell Luncheon at Salt Lick BBQ as we have in previous years. However, we are looking into other options for an event on this date. More details to come!
How much are SideQuest Community Weekend badges/tickets?
This year, we are offering a couple of a la carte event ticket options, as well as a badge option which covers all SQCW events, to suit your budget and preference.
- Tickets for the SideQuest Charity Gala (Thursday only) are $70 each.
- Tickets for SideQuest Barlympics and the SideQuest VIP Lounge (Saturday and Sunday only) are $50 each.
- SideQuest Community Weekend Premier Passes grant access to the SideQuest Charity Gala, SideQuest Barlympics, and the SideQuest VIP Lounge; and are $100 each.
When will badges/tickets go on sale?
All ticket and badge options are scheduled to go on sale starting Saturday, March 4th, at noon Central time. Once sales begin, we will keep you posted (by way of this website and our social media) on how many tickets and badges are left.
That’s all for this update. We hope you’re as excited as we are for another fantastic weekend of community fun this July. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email us at email@example.com, or find us on Twitter (@SideQuestOrg) and Facebook.
